I love brewing coffee daily because it slows time for me.
Every other task I do on my mac is about optimising for speed. AI agent working on one thing, work on multiple projects at once. Locked in on research, you need some music in the bg. Doing something in 15 mins? Find a way to automate it. Literally every digital activity is sometimes overly optimised for speed, efficiency, automation, and whatnot.
Then I get to experience other side of life where I can’t fast forward activities. I am forced to adapt to the slow pace and absorb every second. Think coffee brewing, sports, workouts, sometimes runs, handmade journals, cleaning my watches, cleaning my room, doing dishes, meeting friends, walks, and so on.
It’s beautiful. It brings balance. It takes me away from the devices and shows me slow is good.
If you’re an ambitious individual, you get very little time for your hobbies because work is play to you. You never know the difference between when you work and when you pretend to. That’s a dangerous spot to be in because you’re never out of the zone to reset and start again with refilled energy. Weird but true.
Anyway, you do you.
All I want to say is I love my coffee ritual.
